Perpetual Energy - Perpetuum, an ECS spin-out company, has developed what is thought to be the world’s first perpetual energy device. The completed device, which we reported was in progress last year, is able to harvest vibrational energy ‘from thin air’. As the technology improves, the harvester may be used in future to power a new generation of wireless and battery-free devices.

Cancer hypnosis - The pain of cancer treatment in children can be reduced by simple hypnosis, a new study from the School of Psychology has concluded. The benefits were maintained even if the children hypnotised themselves.
