MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY 2008 Volunteers up and down the country have been making a difference this year with CSV’s (Community Service Volunteers) Make A Difference Day. With the help of SCA, the University Sports Volunteering Department and Southampton Solent University, the Cube was transformed into a hive of activity! Elderly people from local homes and children from local schools spent the day bridging the gap between the generations with fun and games based around three themes; technology, environment and local community. The day was a big hit with young and old enjoying activities such as playing on games consoles, doing arts and crafts with recycling materials, and learning about the history of Southampton just to name a few! It couldn’t have been done without the help of volunteers. They got involved with all sorts including welcoming the guests, organising refreshments, and helping out with the activities.
Everybody who took part in the day helped to make it a success and for their efforts they got a free buffet lunch and a SCA certificate! If you missed the opportunity to get involved keep your eyes peeled for more one-off events like Make A Difference Day coming your way soon!
