Southampton University, proving that they are racing up every league table around, are now racing towards a spot at the top of the University Challenge leaderboard. The four Strong team comprising of 2 women and 2 men is the first to feature 2 mature students.

"It is a wonderful to see a diverse team that reflects the involvement of Mature students in activities at Southampton University. I wish them all the very best and hope that this will be another great success for Southampton." said union president Stephen Edwards

"Our hopes and wishes are with the team and we all wish them luck they do well when the filming starts soon", confirmed Peter Wood, who ran the selection process, he clarified "As all Southampton University students are among the finest in the country there is no reason why we should not be challenging for the title this year ". The team will be going in-front of the cameras when the show is recorded later this year.
