A man was arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with the double stabbing  in Southampton city centre.

The 20 year old was arrested by police in Winchester just hours after the incident.

The arrest comes after two students were attacked at Solent university student halls of residence, at Sir Sydney Kimber Campus in St. Mary’s Place, shortly after 3pm today. The victims were aged 18 and 23 and both received stab wounds.

One victim has already been discharged from hospital, whilst the second required surgery for a ‘non-life threatening injury’

It is reported that the man is from the Luton area, and is being held for questioning in relation to causing grevious bodily harm.
