Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint around 4am this morning.
A man entered the taxi on Wilton Avenue and asked the 33-year-old driver to collect his wife from Milton Road so that he could take her to hospital. When they arrived at the destination, the passenger demanded cash from the driver, held a knife in front of his face and threatened him.
The thief left with the money on a nearby bicycle, and headed in the direction of Bedford Place. He is described as white and ‘nicely spoken’.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Detective Constable Louise Daniels at Shirley Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
