Nominations are now open for the SUSU Excellence in Teaching Awards 2014, which celebrate the best academic staff at the University of Southampton.

The Students’ Union is encouraging Southampton students to nominate members of staff who have gone over and above the call of duty or used innovative learning methods to help students excel in their studies.

Any member of academic staff can be entered for the Excellence in Teaching Awards (ETAs), whether it’s for providing pastoral support, outstanding teaching, unbeatable feedback, or anything else which has been beneficial for academic performance and enjoyment.

Staff can be nominated for five categories: Outstanding Lecturer, Teaching & Learning Lifetime Achievement, Innovative Teaching, Best Feedback Provision, and Contribution to Academic Support.

The ETAs are the only student-voted teaching awards at the University of Southampton. Last year, 663 members of staff were nominated for the ETAs.

Nominations for the ETAs will close next Monday, 24th March at 5pm. The winners will be presented with their awards at the ceremony on 8th May 2014. Students can nominate a staff member through the SUSU website.
