A woman was sexually assaulted this morning on St. Andrews Road as she walked home from a night out.

The 23-year-old victim told police that she was sexually assaulted between 2:30 and 3:30am. She had been at The Edge with a group of friends, but separated from them and was walking home alone when she was approached by an unknown man and attacked.

The male suspect is black, and and was dressed entirely in black, wearing gloves, tracksuit bottoms, a cap and a shirt.

Detective Inspector Jim Park from Southampton Central Police Station told the Daily Echo:

“We would like to hear from anyone who has information that may assist our investigation. Were you in the area of St Andrews Road during the early hours of Sunday, May 11 and did you see or hear anything around the time of the incident. If you have any concerns or questions please speak to an officer or call 101.”
