The station's website was entered into the 'Best Reader Site' category and has been selected as one of only five to make it onto the final shortlist. Matt Treacy, Surge Radio station manager said, "We didn't actually enter ourselves in for this award, but have been nominated by our users, and their choice has been verified by industry experts so thank you for the support that got us nominated. We are so pleased to have made it this far. Now we need to pull out all the stops. Please vote for us to win".

Surge broadcasts from the New Terrace in the Glen Eyre Halls complex all-year-round on 1287AM, and digitally online through their website http//www.surgeradio.co.uk. An FM RSL also provides them with the opportunity to broadcast on FM for a month-long period, across the Students' Union elections.
This is not the first time that Surge have been nominated for top awards either. At the Student Radio Awards in 2003, the station was nominated for three awards, including "Matty in the Morning" - the breakfast show hosted by Matt Treacy and Charlotte Scarborough. They proudly came home with Gold for Best Technical Innovation for the Total Request System and with Silver for the website.
They also won awards at our own Athletic Union Awards night in May 2004, for their excellent coverage of the Varsity Football Match.
Help them get another well-deserved award under their belts! First, check out the great website in question at http://www.surgeradio.co.uk and then go and vote for them at http://uknetawards.co.uk/page_vote.asp?cat=NEWM.
