BREAKING: Explosion on Silverdale Road

An explosion occurred last night on Silverdale road, leading to a 20 year old man being hospitalised for severe burns.

The South Central Ambulance Service received a call at 7.15pm last night (5th December) they later called Hampshire Constabulary at 9.30pm. The house, near Archers Road halls, remains cordoned off this afternoon.

A search is being undertaken by a bomb disposal team, the Daily Echo has reported. Yet the police are not linking the event to an act of terrorism, and it is believed the explosion was a result of a homemade firework.

The house remains shut this afternoon. Several police vehicles are on the scene, and incident tape is shutting off the house.

It is unsure whether the house in question was a student property or not.

The victim, has been taken to a specialist burns treatment unit in Odstock, Wiltshire.
