Young Motoring Writer 2004

24th May 2004

Move your career into the fast track and enter Young Motoring Writer 2004 and you could win a prize worth up to £1000 and the chance to develop your karting skills at Buckmore Park Kart Circuit in Kent!

The competition aims to give non-professional young writers and motoring enthusiasts the opportunity to develop journalistic skills essential to the media and automotive industries. Organised in association with The Daily Telegraph and Lex Vehicle Leasing and supported by Buckmore Park Kart Circuit, the competition is open to two age categories, 13-17year olds and 18-25 year olds.

Entrants should submit an article, no longer than 1000 words, on the subject of Road Safety, a topic high on the agendas of government, media and the motoring industry.  The winner of each age category will have his/her article published in The Daily Telegraph Motoring Section and on the leading website motoring.telegraph.co.uk. In addition, the first prize winner will win a prize worth up to £1000 courtesy of Lex Vehicle Leasing, and a day at Sisley Kart School at Buckmore Park, with a practice session and an entry into a full-blown championship at the picturesque outdoor circuit that has been developed in recent years to offer some of the best facilities in the world.

“The Daily Telegraph is committed to developing the skills of young motoring writers. Entrants should not be discouraged by any lack of experience in writing, more importantly we are looking for people who can successfully capture the imagination of the public and communicate with clarity and above all enthusiasm,” said Peter Hall, Motoring Editor, The Daily Telegraph.
