The Union’s Bridge Bar will be transformed this evening for a night of cultural performances, as newly formed Southampton University’s Culture Appreciation Society hosts its official handover celebration, Culture and Cocktails II.
The cultural showcase, a popular event hosted regularly by SUCAS, will be the last one organised by the current committee under the leadership of the first ever President of the society, Alexandra Kent. She said: ‘It’ll be a good run, seeing as it’s the last one for us’.
SUCAS was formed last year and approved as a Union society in October. It aims ‘to provide all lovers of culture opportunities to enjoy a variety of cultural events, with like-minded people, at discounted prices’.
Tonight’s event will feature performances from Philosophy lecturer and ukulele player Ray Monk, singer/songwriter Rachel Boucher, SU Strings, student comedians and poets, and many more.
The event kicks off at 8pm in The Bridge Bar and admission is free.
