Chilli White Club Closing

Chilli White nightclub in Southampton town centre is set to close after being open for just under five months. The news comes days after police warned that the club needed to employ a ‘nanny’ to control drunks.

A combination of licensing issues surrounding the venue as well as poor performance of trade, particularly on Saturday nights and when university students have gone home.

The Wessex Scene has been told that the club is closing due to ‘a combination of licensing issues surrounding the venue as well as poor performance of trade, particularly on Saturday nights and when university students have gone home.’

Due to the club’s popularity with Southampton and Solent students alike, the amount of drunk and anti-social behaviour has put the club under scrutiny from the local authorities. A review of the club’s license was to be conducted by Southampton city councillors over concern about cheap drinks prices.

There has also been talk of implementing stricter door policies and ID checks in order to diminish the violent and disorderly behaviour inside the club and its surrounding areas.

An official notice of closure has yet to be announced.
