The University of Southampton has risen to 14th place in the Complete University Guide, it was revealed today.
The University of Southampton was ranked 16th place last year. This year, Southampton outperforms fellow top Russell Group universities such as Bristol University, the University of York and King’s College London.
In addition to this success, the university has reached the top 10 for the following subjects:
Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering (5th out of 40)
Anthropology (7th – not ranked last year)
Aural & Oral Sciences (5th out of 23)
Civil Engineering (4th out of 53)
Communication & Media Studies (10th out of 91)
Computer Science (8th out of 105)
Education (7th out of 80)
Electrical & Electronic Engineering (3rd out of 76)
General Engineering (6th out of 51)
German (10th out of 43)
Iberian Languages (10th out of 51)
Linguistics (8th out of 38)
Mechanical Engineering (5th out of 68)
Social Policy (7th out of 55)
Various other Southampton subjects showed a great improvement such as Education which rose to 7th (from 25th) and English to 16th (from 29th). Politics was the highest climber, rising to 22nd place from 42nd last year.
