Recipe: Creamy Smoked Salmon Pasta with Broccoli



This recipe is ideal for the exam season. It’s healthy – fish is supposed to be good for the brain, so might help with that last minute revision – and ready in less than 20 minutes. It’s also really cheap, costing £3.90 total with pasta left over (though please note that this sadly does not include parmesan cheese). If that isn’t enough there is also minimum washing up, using only 1 saucepan.

Serves 4


400g pasta (use wholemeal if you want to be really healthy)

120g smoked salmon (you can get Sainsbury’s Basics for £1.70)

1 broccoli (asparagus also works well)

150ml single cream


1. Cut up the broccoli and cook for 10-12 minutes in boiling water with the pasta. Stir every few minutes and check to make sure the broccoli is cooked.

2. Drain the pasta and broccoli with a sieve or colander and then put back into the saucepan. Simply add the cream and smoked salmon and mix well over the heat for a further 2 minutes.

3. Season with pepper or grate parmesan cheese on top (optional).
