Police Ban Sobar’s 1p a Pint St Patrick's Day Promotion

The one penny a pint promotion which was set up for St Patrick’s day has been scrapped following a meeting with the police and licensing officials. Sobar had been advertising the promotion through facebook  which had attracted over seven hundred guests but a message was sent to students last week informing them that the promotion would no longer be running after they had talked with the police.

This comes at a time when the police and licensees are working on new schemes such as minimum price limits on drinks to reduce alchohol related crimes in Southampton.

Bar manager Josh Sinnett told the Daily Echo:  “We are a strictly student venue who always work well with licensing and the police, and we don’t have any trouble here.”
