Student Mugged – Over £1000 Taken

A University of Southampton student who won hundreds of pounds at a casino was robbed of £760 cash and an unclaimed Ladbrokes winning slip for £395 last Thursday.

The 20 year-old student was approached by two attackers at 10.45, April 15 on Cambridge Road, near the Squirrels shop, and was asked if he had a lighter.

When he reached for a cigarette from his pocket, his wallet fell out. As he bent over to pick it up he was struck on the back of his head and fell over. The robbers then made off with the black and silver Fossil wallet, which also contained his bank cards.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and urge anyone with information to come forward.

Both the robbers are described as white, with eastern European accents. One was also described as 5ft 6in and wearing a white hoodie, and the other as 6ft 2in who wore a black coat with green trim and a dark coloured rucksack.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact PC Gemma Frost at Portswood Police Station on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
