SUSU Elections 2011: Day One round up

Student elections for the year 2011-2012 have launched!

Today was dominated by a sea of colour and sound on campus as campaign teams assembled on the red brick area outside the Students Union. This year, there are 30 candidates running for 7 Sabbatical positions and two of the six trustee positions. Make sure to check out their manifestos at:

As with previous elections, the starting bell for this election started just after 11am – in which every single campaign team quickly turned all available wall space across Highfield and Avenue Campus with banners and posters. Make sure to check out some of the photos of the day here:

It looks like its going to be an interesting week – all the candidates seemed to have a visible presence on campus throughout some of the day which will hopefully continue. SURGE radio also had a stall here – in which it was advertised they will be broadcasting on 87.7 FM for the next week so make sure to tune in to hear all the latest campaign news!

Tomorrow is “quiz the candidates” – 1pm on the red brick area outside the Students Union. Make sure you come and find out what the canididates are running for and what their views are! The Wessex Scene will be running a live blog or this event. The event link can be found below:

Happy Campaigning to the Candidates and Good luck! If you have any content on today’s events or the elections, feel free to post it in the comments section below.
