Handbag Stolen in Portswood


A cyclist stole a woman’s handbag at 1 a.m on Tuesday 1st March, the Wessex Scene can report.

The incident took place at the Portswood Road / Avenue junction, as the woman was walking with her friend in the early hours of the morning. The cyclist dismounted his bicycle and attempted to snatch her handbag. She refused, but was pushed to the ground in the process and banged her head.

The unknown man then cycled into Spring Crescent with the bag. He is white, in his mid twenties, 6 foot tall and has an English accent. During the incident, he was wearing a winter hat, a waterproof jacket and dark trousers. Police are appealing for witnesses.
