SUSUtv have been announced as the host of FreshersTV 2011, the annual broadcast set up by the National Student Television Association (NaSTA) that features live link-ups with around 30 student stations around the country.
The broadcast – which was last year hosted by LSUTV, Loughborough University’s student station – promises to be an even bigger and more ambitious show than the 2011 Elections night, which itself brought in over 10,000 viewers.
SUSU VP Communications Joe McLo, whose remit includes supervising the media departments, said on his recent blog post that “[this]demonstrates all the hard work and passion put in by students in their free time to student television at SUSU and is a signpost of great things to come in the next few years.
“As VP Comms, I am really excited to be working with them this year.”
In winning the bid to be host station, it carries on a year of success for SUSUtv, who walked away with four awards at April’s NaSTA awards, including wins for Best Drama and Best Comedy.
The broadcast will most likely take place in October, and be streamed live in high definition on freshers.tv.
