Hat Fair 2012 – Through Rain and Shine

Since 1974, The Hat Fair (named after the tradition of throwing donations into the performer’s hats) provides exciting entertainment and colourful performances, as well as being a great platform for Artists from all over the country.

From 6th- 8th July, the city of Winchester was brimming with spectacular stunts, crazy circus acts and craft and food stalls. The entertainment battled through the downpour, such as the fantastic Friday evening show ‘Invasion’ by Close Act.

As much performances and shows were shown as possible before its unfortunate waterlogged cancellation; Artistic Director Kate Hazel made this comment: “With outdoor arts you always take a risk in this country, but it’s one well worth taking because the results are simply stunning.”

Next year’s Hat Fair takes place from 5th -7th July 2013 which will be very exciting as the fair will have a new status as a National Portfolio Organisation, definitely a date for your diary!
