VP Welfare is in charge of the student bodies welfare and happiness. This means promoting student well-being through awareness campaigns as well as assisting in student-run groups such as Nightline. The role is also responsible for matters relating to employability and for assisting political, ethical and environmental campaigns. VP Welfare also provides assistance in the way of public aware campaigns for societies and faith groups.

The position was last year called VP Welfare and Communities. Welfare used to be responsible for building relations with external communities –which now comes under VP Engagement – and support for student communities (such as Internationals) -which is   now part of the VP Student Communities role. Since the changes, Welfare is now able to focus more on issues of sustainability (e.g. ethics and environment), student life (e.g. housing campaigns and Nightline), and student wellbeing.
