Race Attack Near Royal South Hants Hospital

Southampton police are seeking any witnesses to a racially motivated assault that took place on Graham Road, adjacent to Royal South Hants Hospital.

A 47-year-old man was walking towards Derby Road between 9 and 9:30pm on Friday August 16th. He passed a group of men walking in the opposite direction, and one turned to him and asked “Are you foreign?”.

When the man said he was and continued on his way, he was punched in the face, knocking him down. As he got up, he was struck again and fell. The victim stated that there were about ten men in the group, and that they were all white.

Anyone with information about the assault is urged to contact PC Claire Sheehy at Southampton Central on 101, or to anonymously ring the Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
