A man has been charged in the case of the 16-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted near the Common and Avenue Campus last week.
Nathan Daniel Jones, 31, was charged with sexual assault of the girl in question. He lives on Howard Road in Southampton.
The victim was walking with a friend when the two separated and she was sexually assaulted by a male stranger. The man then walked off towards the Common.
He was further arrested on August 30th having been released on bail two days previously. Mr Jones attended Southampton Central police station, but refused to speak to detectives. He is remanded in custody and is set to appear at Southampton Crown Court on Tuesday 24th September.
