Bitterne detectives are seeking witnesses after a student spotted a burglar in her house on Sunday November 3rd.
At around 9:15pm, the resident heard a noise that she believed came from upstairs. On her way up, she saw the door to a downstairs bedroom open slowly. Knowing it to be locked, she shouted “hello”. The door closed and the intruder fled after hearing her.
Police think the burglar used a paving stone to smash a patio door and gain access to the bedroom. Once caught, however, they fled empty handed.
Anyone with information on suspicious activity or unfamiliar people or vehicles in the area at the time should contact Detective Sergeant Sharon Austin at Bitterne CID on 101.
