Surge DJ Emma Real-Davies, who was nominated in the ‘Best Female’ category at the annual Student Radio Awards, came third in the category at the awards ceremony last night.
This is the second year that Emma, who is also the Surge Program Controller, has been nominated for the award. She is a third year English student, and has been involved with Surge since arriving at Southampton. The awards are a prestigious yearly event held by the Student Radio Association, and are designed to reward the most innovative and talented members of student radio stations.
Regarding the award, Emma said:
“I was so happy to be nominated and the competition was so strong, I didn’t think I would win anything! It’s an honour enough to know that so many industry professionals listened to my entry. I’m extremely grateful.”
