Body Parts Washed Up on Southampton Shore Identified

The human remains that washed up on the Weston Shore on December 8th, as we reported here, have been identified as being those of Christopher Spikesman, who went missing on January 8th 2013.

Hampshire police believe that Mr Spikesman, 27, jumped from the Itchen Bridge back in January of last year, and an inquest is now underway to determine the cause of death.

Police were called to the bridge on January 7th 2013 after members of the public saw a man looking like he was going to jump. After he jumped and disappeared into the water, his body was not found after an extensive search and he was suspected to have drowned.

Mr Spikesman had a few tattoos on his body, including the words ‘Hide from the Sun’ on the front of his neck and a number on his arms. The hearing on his death took place yesterday morning.
