Winchester’s locally famous Vintage and Retro Market, which occurs on the first Sunday of every month, is due to hit the High Street this Sunday 7th December.
The monthly event, that hosts over 65 stalls, will take place along Winchester’s High Street and MiddleBrook Street, selling a vast variety of retro furniture, jewellery, antiques and ornaments, as well as taxidermy and vintage clothing. There will also be a collection of vinyl records and other nostalgic accessories on offer.
The market is one of the largest of its kind in the South-East, and is well received not only by the local residents but also many tourists. The event, now in its third year, occurs on the first Sunday of every month from March to December, 10am to 4pm.
Alternatively, there are numerous vintage gems hidden away from the main high street throughout the city. Fab Vintage, located in Kings Walk Shopping Centre, is a fabulous little clothing store that sells a variety of vintage coats, shoes, handbags and outfits, amongst many other accessories. The store, which was once a market stall, is now open six days a week, Monday to Saturday.
Additionally, tucked away on Winnall Industrial Estate, there is a recently opened warehouse that sells a large variety of retro furniture, ornaments and objets d’arts, including many antiquities and accessories. The warehouse, aptly named Molly’s Den, also has its own café, selling coffee, tea and homemade cakes. Winchester is simply bursting with vintage finds if you are prepared to explore the city a little more.
