Fire Breaks Out At Mayflower Halls

Fire engines were called to Mayflower Halls on Friday night after the building was hit by a fire.

The fire, which started at 10.42pm in one of the kitchens, had been extinguished by the time fire engines from St Mary’s, Redbridge and Hightown fire station arrived. No injuries were reported during the incident, which was attended by about 25 firefighters.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at Mayflower. Around 90 firefighters had to be called to the building while it was still under development in May last year after construction workers ‘inadvertently’ set building materials alight.

The Wessex Scene will be updated as more information becomes available.
