Women Dies At Southampton Ikea


A woman died following an incident at the Southampton branch of Ikea on Monday afternoon.

Officers from Hampshire Police were called to the scene at 1.18pm yesterday afternoon and an evidence tent was erected in the walkway next to the ground floor of the building. According to reports from the Daily Echo officers were seen guarding a vehicle surrounded by police tape on the rooftop car park of the building.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also called to the scene and landed in the nearby Mayflower Park. A spokesman for the South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that their had been a fatality at the store, but would not reveal any details about how the woman had died.

While the investigation was conducted, entrances to the store on both West Quay Road and Harbour Parade were cordoned off. Two ambulances were seen leaving the scene at 3.30pm, by which time a private ambulance had arrived.
