The University of Southampton has been ranked the 17th most desirable University for graduate employers, according to the annual Graduate Market in 2016 report. Having already risen in several academic league tables, the University has cemented its place as one of the UK’s top universities.
Graduates from the University have gone on to work at some of the UK’s biggest employers, such as BT, Lloyd’s, Deloitte, Arup and Jaguar Land Rover. Additonally, the Careers and Employability Service has seen a 57% increase in external exhibitors at careers fairs, 40 of those exhibitors featuring in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers.
According to the latest survey of Destinations of Leaver from Higher Education in the UK, 93.9% of full-time undergraduates from Southampton who received their degrees in 2013/14 were in employment or progressed to further study within six months of graduating.
The report also showed that over 1000 graduate positions were left unfilled last year as a result of the notable rise in the number of graduates turning down job offers. The number of graduate vacancies in 2016 is now at the highest level ever. The report can be seen here.
