The Times Higher Education published their European University Top 200 Rankings today, which saw Southampton come home 48th.
Using the same performance indicators as the world university rankings, Southampton placed 17th from UK universities on the list.
Institutions in the European 200 table were measured on their teaching environment, research environment, citations (research influence), industry income and international outlook.
Southampton shared 110th with RWTH Aachen in the latest the Times Higher Education world rankings published in September 2015.
This comes after excellent results in domestic tables, which saw Southampton consolidate its place in the top 20 universities in the UK.
In January 2016, Southampton was ranked as the 60th ‘most international university’ in the world by theTHE, using international outlook indicators including the proportion of international staff, students and research papers published with a least one co-author from another country.
