Funding For EU Students Starting Study in the UK Will Be Honoured

University Minister Jo Johnson has confirmed that student loans for EU students beginning study in the UK this autumn will be honoured in spite of the recent vote to leave.

In a statement released via the Student Loans Company website, Mr Johnson said that the rules relating to those from EU countries who have applied to study at a UK university from this August ‘will remain unchanged’ and loans and grants (both to cover tuition fees and living costs) will be provided ‘in the normal way’ for the duration of their courses.

The statement also clarifies that funding for EU student who are currently enrolled on a course at a UK university will continue to receive funding as they do currently until the end of their courses.

Anyone who requires further information regarding student finance is advised to contact the University’s Student Services department or the Union Southampton advice centre.
