Man Injured in ‘Rage’ Attack at Mayflower Co-Op

A man was left hurt yesterday after a customer at the Co-Operative Store at Mayflower Halls turned violent in what has been dubbed a ‘supermarket rage’ attack.

The 43 year-old victim suffered a cut and some bruising when he was hit with a shopping basket at 21:20 on Monday after arguing with two other people.

Police have released images of two men who they believe are connected with the assault.

The first person is describe as a white male, aged between 18 to 25 years of age, around 5′ 8″, of a chubby build with ginger hair. He was wearing black clothing and a black baseball cap.

The second was a mixed race male, around 27 years-old, 5′ 5″, of a thin build with short brown hair and stubble. He wore a blue hoodie and carried a square-shaped bag.

Police Staff Investigator Tracy Dang said:“We are aware that there were a number of customers inside the store at the time of this incident, and we would like to speak to them as soon as possible as part of this investigation.”
