Top Ten Jailbreak 2016 moments, as decided by Jailbreak HQ:

1) ‘The Gambia’ trip for Team The Bailers – winners of Jailbreak 2016
2) Gran Canaria flight for only £30 return for one team
3) Cheesewrights – family who very generously put up team for the night in France and provided classy transport, including a vintage rolls royce, to enable them to reach Paris
4) 4 tickets bought for coach to Amsterdam instead of 3 required by Team Brexiteers
5) Lost Phone disaster for one unfortunate team – team went to Scotland, phone left in car travelled to Nottingham
6) The DAZ mystery Bay of Biscay triangle
7) Team Frenchies feeding french homeless people cheese burgers
8) Media race: SUSU TV, Surge Radio competing for the prize of ‘Kings of the North’
9) Great British Bake Off star Selasi’s tweet!
10) ‘Blaze to Amsterdam’ – all roads leading to Amsterdam with three teams going and staying there

avatar Ivan Morris Poxton November 20, 20168:32 pm

Distance ranges, with some help from Google Maps:

Furthest North (Inverness – Surge Radio) to Furthest South (Banjul, Gambia – Team Bailers): 4,145 miles/13hrs 55mins flight time/74 hours by car

Furthest West (Banjul, Gambia) to Furthest East (Copenhagen – Team Brexiteers): 4,066 miles/11hr 15mins flight time/73 hours by car

Furthest Travelled (Banjul, Gambia,) 2,726 miles- 86miles Least Travelled (Cardiff Uni Campus – Schofield and Burrows)= 2,140 mile range

There’s been a lot of discussion at RAG HQ over the best formula for Jailbreak success. Here’s Wessex Scene’s Top Five Suggestions:

1) Mixed gender team helps – all male teams can struggle more to get lifts, while all female teams are more vulnerable, security wise
2) Optimum number for a team is 2 – far easier to pick up car lifts when hitchhiking if you’re a small team
3) Passport is essential – as always, the winner of this year’s Jailbreak will have left the UK, so to stand a chance of victory, don’t forget your passport!
4) Best costume: colourful onesie – stand out on your travels, but also keep it practical as November’s not the warmest of months
5) Having a good singing voice and a guitar – busking is the most effective way of fundraising
