A University of Southampton History Professor appeared in this week’s ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ starring Danny Dyer.
Mark Stoyle, Professor of Early Modern History, appeared in the documentary tracing back the ancestral roots of BBC Eastenders Star, Danny Dyer.
Danny Dyer was found to have been a direct descendent from Edward III, King of England from 1327 to 1377 during the Hundred Years’ War with France.
Professor Stoyle offered Danny Dyer a valuable insight into Colonel Robert Gosnold, Dyer’s ancestor, who fought as a Royalist in the English Civil War.
Danny Dyer was also found to be related to notable Tudor courtier Thomas Cromwell, Chief Minister for King Henry VIII from 1532 to 1540.
