The best pianists in Southampton will gather in the Turner Sims Concert Hall next week to perform Chopin’s greatest pieces, as Polish Society mark 2010 as ‘Chopin’s Year’.
The event, ‘The Musical Genius: Chopin’s Greatest Collection Performed Live’ is organised by the society who promise a ‘fantastical spiritual experience’ on Friday December 10.
Two students of the University, Ignacio Brasa and Mateusz Bialek, will perform at the event. They will be accompanied by Karol Rybarczyk, an 11 year-old musician who has already performed before the Prince of Wales.
Performed compositions will include ‘Waltz Des-dur’, ‘Fantasy-Impromptu’ and ‘The Revolutionary Etude’. PhD student Roger W. Hansford, who is currently writing a thesis on Chopin’s ballades, will present the event.
Doors open at 6.30, for a 7pm start, and wine and soft drinks will be provided.
Free tickets can be ordered online at www.polsoc.co.uk.
