Further Grad Ball details have been announced, and this year sees a bit of a twist to the usual acts one would expect.
Jonny Brooks revealed that Room 3 of Oceana will see Charlie Baker, the musician turned comedian, who has also played at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Sir Ian Mckellen’s 50th, open the evening.
He will be followed by headline comedy act Shappi Khorsandi, who has featured on TV shows such as ‘Have I Got News For You’. Though the comic, who is currently touring around the UK, is not the final act.
Chesney Hawkes has been announced as the main act for Room 3, having played at the Southampton Grad Ball last year proves to have sticking power around Southampton, being described by students as “brilliant”.
The move to bring in comedians also seems to have been received positively by students, one student saying it “brings something different” to the Grad Ball experience.
Final details of who will headline Room 1 will be released before tickets go on sale on Wednesday 18th of April. Prices for these tickets have yet to be announced, but are rumoured to be similar prices to last year (£49).
