Police Appeal for Witnesses after Attempted Robbery on Portswood Road


Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery on Portswood Road on 23rd March.

The incident occurred on 23rd March at 2:40am, between Champagne Charlies and The Gordon Arms. Two males attempted to rob a student while he was walking home alone. The student was punched in the mouth but managed to escape with nothing stolen, although the robbers demanded his wallet and phone.

Ian Sainsbury from Southampton Central Police Station said:

The offenders are described as white, approximately 5’6”, slim builds, clean shaven and both wearing shirts.

Police would like to identify the males in the CCTV picture above as they are believed to be witnesses who hold important information pertaining to the incident.
