Makeover Madness

0

The Christmas party season is upon us, and when it comes to festive balls and New Year’s Eve dos, you want to be looking your best. You could splash out on a new dress or heels, but how about keeping in the jovial spirit and buying something that just keeps giving? Make-up counters offer a range of makeovers and master-classes, often without the price tag you’d imagine! And with products and face-charts you can learn how to re-create the look yourself – think of it as an investment! Here’s my pick of the best:

MAC – If you’re looking to try out dark smoky eyes or dramatic contouring, this is the place to go. MAC artists offer a wide range of in-store services, including full makeovers perfect for parties. For a booking fee of £30 for 60 minutes or £20 for 30 minutes, you can get made-over in any style you like – and the full fee is redeemable against products. You’ll also receive a face-chart so you can do it at home again and again. If you don’t want the full works, pop in to get professional eye-lash application completely free when you by a pair of lashes, no appointment necessary!

Benefit – Also £30 to book a lesson and full make-over, but it’s all redeemable against products and services. Get party ready and treat yourself in the process! You can also make use of Benefit’s signature brow service: mapping and creating the perfect eyebrows to suit your face.

Bobbi Brown – At any counter you can book complimentary make-up lessons lasting between 5 and 45 minutes, on looks including party make-up, teenage beauty, and simple techniques such as liquid eyeliner application. There’s no cost and no obligation to buy anything (although you’ll probably want to) so it’s a win-win.

If you’re not looking for a full makeover experience, call into the likes of No7 – who happily provide testers of your foundation match – or Urban Decay who will show you how to apply any product you purchase.

All these brands have counters in either John Lewis or Debenhams’ Southampton stores – so what are you waiting for? Treat yourself to a party-prepping prezzie this festive season!
