Campaigners will be taking to the city streets today over the upcoming controversial documentary, Immigration Street, which is due to air later this year.
The campaign, named ‘We are Southampton’, has been organised in order to gain extra support for an upcoming rally which will take place outside the London headquarters of Channel 4.
The event begins today at 11.30am outside of Southampton Solent University, where at 1pm, residents and campaigners will be able to make banners before the march commences.
People will then head down to Derby Street, the location where the documentary is being filmed, and to Maytree Nursery and Infant School where from 2pm until 4pm there will be a public meeting.
This is not the first time the documentary has faced opposition as residents expressed anger in a community meeting which took place last July, and in August the TV crew were pelted with eggs and flour by a group of local young boys.
