Staff and students are invited to the lecture, which is part of the ‘One Book, One Southampton’ project. This was set up by the university to engage with the both the academic and wider communities through a carefully selected book – ‘Empire’ was selected as this ‘big read’ for the 2014/15 academic year. Nominations are currently open to decide the book for 2015/16.

Students also have the opportunity to enter a competition and win £350 in cash by writing about their opinion of the book. More information about the competition can be found on the One Book website.

You can sign up for free tickets to the event online.
