Vince Cable to Debate at Southampton University


This Thursday, the Southampton University Debating Society are running a debate on the motion ‘this house believes that Fiscal Austerity has been detrimental to the UK’  with special Guest Speaker Sir Vince Cable.

Vince Cable was Twickenham’s parliamentary representative for 18 years, and was one of the most respected men in politics by all parties. Vince served in the last coalition government as Minister of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, prior to that he was Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Vince CableHe is also the author of the bestselling novel “The Storm” which explains the causes of the world economic crisis.

On Thursday, he will be speaking in the debate arguing in favour of the motion. He is participating in this debate as part of his book tour for his latest novel “After the Storm”. The debate will take place in Building 58, room 1067 at 18:00.

Members of the debating society will also debate.
