Drivers on a freeway just outside Melbourne were in for a surprise yesterday when hundreds of sheep began to fall onto their cars and the road around them, seemingly from the sky.
A truck transporting around 400 of the animals overturned while taking a bend on an overpass above the Princess Highway, spilling the sheep onto the road below. Few motorists were injured, but a number of cars were damaged by these falling farm-yard friends and paramedics reported a huge number of dead or wounded animals.
Motorist Christy Davis, whose car was hit by the plummeting sheep, stated that it ‘rained sheep…they were coming down like a mountain’. Presumably the Australian government is going to have to start putting up some bizarrely specific warning signs.
